Touching the Lives of our Neighbors (Outreach Projects)

Throughout the year the members of Grace Lutheran Church touch the lives of many people in our area and around the world through various projects.

In September we sponsor Harvest Home Sunday to provide food for two area food pantries. This is always celebrated on the last Sunday of September. You are invited to bring nonperishable food products. In addition, a special offering is given to World Hunger.

In October we encourage our members to participate in the North Penn Area CROP WALK. This walk is always held the second Sunday in October. Rain or shine members of area churches come together at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lansdale. The funds raised by our walkers are given to Church World Services to provide needed food and supplies to people around the world.

Beginning in November, we collect gifts for area families so they can experience the JOY of the Christmas Season with their families. We usually receive three families to sponsor. A list of suggested gifts to purchase is provided for members.

In February, we provide gifts for Laura House to celebrate Valentine's Day. Laurel House provides shelter for abused women and their children. The shelter also provides educational opportunities.

During the Lenten Season, we sponsor the Rice Bowl. The funds collected through our special offering are shared with various agencies that provide care and funds for people in need. In 2011 we gave over $3000 to the ELCA Disaster Response fund to help victims around the world that have been displaced by natural disasters, such as the people of Japan affected by the earthquake and tsunami.
